What did i do for 'me' today?

I am a mom to a very happy, content baby.I have a wonderful husband and a great support system in place(love you mom!).I have some awesome friends(mommy and non- mommy) who listen to me BLAH about my baby and other motherly things(read nonsense). But nevertheless, there have been nights when I go to bed feeling tired, lost and unloved. There have been days when everything seemed so meaningless. My lil baby and I spent the days alone at home and it did take its toll on me sometimes.

It took me about 9 months now to realize that those feelings have nothing to do with anyone or anything around me,it has to do with me.It was my soul crying out for attention. It was my body, begging me for some love and care.

In the midst of the whole grand deal of raising your baby and juggling your family and life, some mums do forget the 'me' in them.I was one of them.I ignored me.I was a complete mess. There was a lot of guilt I felt, to take off and take care of myself.Ridiculous.But,I know a lot of mums who feel that way.

I really am not going to get too dramatic and dwell on this issue.I have made an awesome realization and I am going to do something about it.I am going to take my baby steps to take care of myself.

I have promised myself that I would do the following, sincerely, just for 'me'.

1.Do something girlie,if not each day, at least couple of times a week.Like, trying new make up,buying that lovely scarf, painting nails, catching up with the girls - whatever.

2.Take my vitamins,each day!

3.Do basic stretches and exercises .

4.Read books-no nothing related to babies.

5.Remind myself,I am not perfect.I cannot be perfect and thats really OK.

6.Send my 'to-do' lists on a vacation once in a while!

7.Eat right!!!(At least a fruit a day-yeah I am getting there!)

8.Shut down and sleep by 10:30pm,NO MATTER WHAT.

9.Try not to worry, remember worry is mental clutter,It sucks.

10.Quality time with husband,every day.

These are my baby steps and I really REALLY want to get there.I have been trying to follow most of this for a week now and you cant believe how happy and wonderful I feel already!!

So what did you do to take care of yourself mommy?
