Love in words - happy 9th birthday!

Image
Dearest Yadditu, So another year gone. Another birthday is here. My introductions in the letters I write to you on your birthdays seem almost identical and cornily cliched as I say "I wonder how all the time flew past" .So technically we are skipping that bit this year but that does not mean I dont wonder.I do and wonder hard. This birthday meant a few firsts and a few lasts. This birthday is your last single digit birthday! The last. This birthday is also the last birthday as our only son. This birthday we celebrated in a place called home - our very own first home. This was the year when you seemed to have jumped and wandered off from my arms into this world and have found solace and love and security and happiness in the world of cricket, books and art. You discovered the world of books and reading and my heart always skips a beat when I watch you lost in a book, all alone but not really so. Cricket was a calling you took to like a fashioned Pro.You absolutely...

a holiday in the wilderness

Image
We always wanted to show you various landscapes. The jungle, snow, desserts and everything in between. The visit to the dandeli -anshi tiger reserve was unbelievable, serene and beautiful -every bit of magic we wanted you to see and unfold. From the jungle night trek (Walking in pitch darkness with just a torch light spotting animals) to the long walks and treks, you were up and going. You made some friends at the resort- a pair of turkeys whom you named pakdam pakdai and a cat who was extremely fond of you whom you named lazy bum! You slept without a complain in the tent we camped in the first night, even though there were no night lights. You eagerly looked into the binoculars trying spot a hornbill or a giant squirrel. You happily clicked away pictures on my slr.You hushed us up when we were waiting on a rock for the deers to come by the river to have their drink. You squealed with happiness as the wind blew your hair as we drove in an open jeep across the forest. You thought the bo...

Your first medal for running a 1 km run. The run was held as part of the republic day celebrations at your friend's community. Now it proudly hangs in our master bedroom.

Treasures

We were driving back home from school, the routine route. The beautiful roads, the tall trees and the cars zipping past us.You were content, happy, tired and very quiet.I was planning, affirming, choosing between the chaos inside my brain, driving and very quiet.Suddenly you call out,"Ma,what is that on the tree, did you see that ma,its so beautiful.Ma,there are so many treasures on this road?".Quickly the chaos inside my brain pulls to a halt.I am annoyed for having been disturbed and I want to snap at you. But instead i pull over and ask you to step out.I tell you that we will find treasures.Your eyes twinkle. You lead me,I follow you..You explore the world as I watch your face. You ask me questions and I try and answer them for you.You pick up twigs and seeds and beautiful flowers that have kissed the roads and gingerly place them into my hands. The world around us stops. Its only you and me.You are far away transported to some magical land I can see that from your eyes. We slow...

Yaddie's first site visit !

Image
This is probably going to be one of his many hundred site visits he is going to accompany us(read dragged along),but nevertheless this was his first. We really did not have a choice when we took him along today, but he pretty much enjoyed it.This year is going to be a tough one, with me trying to get back to work(working from home) and not really having a full time help at home.Typically I would have left him with his grandparents when i step out for meetings or site visits, but they weren't in town too, that justifies me taking my son for the site visit i guess...sigh! I dont know if this lil man is going to adore architecture or despise it with all his heart,it really doesn't matter. What matters is how perfectly adorable he is!!!Look at him, look at all that adorable nonsense he was up to today! The bright yellow auto, well,he has a fascination for autos and there was this really merry one parked right next to our car,so my son and i invited ourselves over! This was the view from th...
